At its meeting in Dubai, the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) re-elected Poland to this organisation’s Council for 2018-2022.

Poland received 125 votes out of the 193 ITU member states. Composed of 48 states, the ITU Council governs the organisation’s work between sessions of the Plenipotentiary Conference, which convenes every four years. The vote result reflects the international community’s high regard for Poland’s activities and initiatives taken to facilitate cooperation and improve the quality of telecom services at the International Telecommunication Union. It has been made possible by effective cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

Poland sat on the ITU Council in 1965-1982, 1994-2006, and subsequently from 2010. The International Telecommunication Union is responsible for international collaboration in the area of widely understood multilateral telecommunications policy.
