    Today, Minister Witold Waszczykowski has presented Jakub Kumoch with his nomination as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Swiss Confederation and to the Principality of Liechtenstein as a country of additional accreditation.

     

    Jakub Kumoch is an expert in the field of European and Oriental studies, political sciences and the EU's external relations. Since 2015 he has been member of the Foreign Affairs Section of the National Development Council attached to the President of the Republic of Poland. He is a graduate of the Institute of International Relations and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw. In 2015, he obtained a PhD in social science at the Jagiellonian University. He worked among others in the Centre for Eastern Studies and the Polish Institute of International Affairs; he was an associate of the Sobieski Institute. Ambassador Kumoch also worked as a correspondent of the Polish Press Agency (PAP) in Moscow, and later as deputy head of the foreign desk and head of the national desk of the Dziennik daily, among others. He is a member of the European Commission’s group of experts for the analysis of electoral processes. He took part in several EU Election Observation Missions (EU EOM), including in post-conflict countries, serving three times as expert and head of the EU EOM media monitoring team. He also took part in the process of reviewing the European Commission’s methodology concerning the observation of online media in election processes. He is fluent in French, English, Croatian, Spanish, and Russian. He also speaks German, Turkish and Ukrainian, as well as Arabic.
