    On June 23rd 2017, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski conducted a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

    The talk was devoted to the planned visit to Poland by US President Donald Trump, scheduled to take place in July. Minister Waszczykowski informed the NATO Secretary General about the expected topics of the Polish-American bilateral talks, among which security and transatlantic cooperation would play an important role.

     


    The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry also discussed the participation of the US president in the Three Seas Summit, where, at the invitation of President Andrzej Duda, representatives of the twelve countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe will take part. The purpose of the event is to give new impetus to regional infrastructure cooperation with the aim of helping strengthen both the European Union and NATO.


    NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg informed Minister Witold Waszczykowski about his recent visits to Latvia and Lithuania related to the deployment of NATO battalion groups in these countries. He also thanked Poland for its active involvement in the implementation of decisions made by the North Atlantic Alliance's, including in relation to defence spending made by Member States.


    A visit to Poland by the NATO Secretary General is expected to take place this autumn.
