Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov paid a visit to Warsaw on 2 September 2010. Russia’s Foreign Minister took part in the annual Council of Polish Ambassadors in Warsaw. Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Radosław Sikorski delivered speeches on the Council’s main panel: ‘The New Era of Polish-Russian Relations’.

 The Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg paid a visit to Poland on 2 August 2010. Minister Schwarzenberg met Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski for talks on a number of bilateral issues, including the prospects for further development of the Polish-Czech relations.

On 26 July 2010 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will head the Polish delegation to the Brussels sessions of the General Affairs Council and Foreign Affairs Council. The FAC session will cover the situation in the Gaza Strip, Sudan and Western Balkans as well as sanctions on Iran, the EU relations with India and Brazil and the EU-Africa summit.

 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski paid a working visit to Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast. The visit’s programme saw Minister Sikorski meet the Governor of the Kaliningrad Oblast Georgy Boos and the Governor of the Tver Oblast Dmitry Zelenin. The talks addressed cooperation issues at bilateral and EU-Russia levels, including prospects of launching frontier zone travel.

 On 17-20 July Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski paid a visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, where he attended the International Conference on Afghanistan on 20 July 2010. The main purpose of the Conference was to discuss and endorse a unified plan for a gradual takeover of responsibility to Afghanistan.

 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski attended an informal meeting of OSCE Foreign Ministers in the Kazakh city of Almaty on 16-17 July 2010. The meeting was organized by Kazakhstan, a country this year holding the OSCE Presidency.

Secretary of State for European Affairs Mikołaj Dowgielewicz has today arrived in Bucharest for a two-day visit, where he is to meet presidential adviser for European affairs Leonard Orban, MFA Secretary of State for European Union Affairs Bogdan Mazuru and Minister-Director of the Department for European Affairs Bogdan Manoiu.

 On 12-15 July Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski paid an official visit to Georgia and Armenia. Minister Sikorski met Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili, Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri and Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze as well as Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsian, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian and Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian as well as both countries’ opposition leaders.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland welcomes the decision by the Swiss authorities to release Roman Polański, a citizen of Poland and France, from house arrest. A solution was found which takes into account the complicated legal terms of this case and the life situation of Roman Polański.

 The meeting organised jointly by Minister Radosław Sikorski and the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies aims to adopt an action plan for the international community in the field of support of democracy and to define the tasks of the Community of Democracies for the forthcoming years.
